Whether your laundry is a compact size or super generous space, how can you create the most efficient layout for one of the hardest-working rooms in the home?
1. Consolidate your tall storage on one wall
Keeping the storage together in tall cupboards will create a very efficient workspace, leaving the other side free for a full-length bench to fold clothes etc. The bench is also useful for storage baskets and soaking items before you toss them in the washing machine.

2. Consider a built-in hanging rail
Perfect for rainy days when you can’t dry washing outside, or for hanging up freshly ironed clothes. Trust us, this is a small investment and you’ll come to wonder how you lived without it!
3. Inject some colour with tiles
It’s always fun to add colour into a space, especially a smaller one like a laundry room. Enhance the room with kit kat tiles or even a beautiful marbled benchtop. A beautiful laundry will bring some joy to washing day!
If you have room for a two-sided laundry, always consolidate your tall storage to one side. You can locate your washing machine and dryer on this side and have them raised, do you don’t have to bend down to grab your clean clothes.
To keep a smaller laundry very efficient, you can half and half the utility zones. You can always stack your washing machine and dryer to one side.
